DUI Awareness
Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Grant- Our three year OTS grant funded project will target
youth/young adults in the Pahrump and surrounding communities with the goal of
increasing perception of risk/harm and ultimately reducing incidences of impaired driving
and injuries/deaths due to alcohol related traffic accidents. The goals will be achieved
through partnering with Great Basin College’s Driver Education Program, Juvenile
Probation (youth found in possession of or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs)
and the Nye County School District (freshman health classes) and will utilize a multi-
strategy approach that includes the use of Fatal Vision Goggles (FVG), an Interactive
Driving Simulator (IDS) and an experiential based impaired driving module.

Impaired Driving Simulator
NyE Communities Coalition in collaboration with the Office of Traffic Safety has
developed an impaired driving educational module that utilizes an impaired driving
simulator, fatal vision goggles integrated into an experiential based format. For more
