Red Ribbon Week For the last few years, NyE Communities Coalition and Nye County Schools District Counselors partner together to discuss and plan National Red Ribbon Week activities. Red Ribbon Week was established by Congress in 1988 to commemorate the work of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, who was murdered in the line of duty and has come to represent the belief that one person CAN make a diference in the fight against drugs. The Red Ribbon campaign promotes this belief and encourages a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention efforts.
Red Ribbon Week is a county wide event that focuses on educating youth and adults in our communities about the dangers of abusing legal drugs and using illegal drugs.
Everyone in our communities can join the effort to make a difference. Contact Joanna Darrow to find out what you can do.
