Hello, I’m Stacy Smith & I’m the Director of NyE Communities Coalition.  I have lived in Pahrump since 1991 and have
been visiting the community since the late 70’s.  Many of my family members have relocated here also, so in addition
to my husband- Larry, daughter- Jill and son -Jake, I have siblings, nieces, nephews and my mom along with many
friends who live here. As a result I’m really invested in seeing this area become a healthy and successful community.
I have been in social service jobs since college, focusing mostly on addiction treatment until the coalition formed in
2001 and I went to work for the school district, coordinating the coalition and prevention programming.  I’m fortunate in
that I enjoy my job & I’m challenged on a daily basis.  Plus, I work with great people – both in the office and across the
communities of Nye and Esmeralda.  Please stop by the office and visit if you haven’t already!
Loyd has a Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling in the areas of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
and Family Systems Counseling. He is a Certified Prevention Specialist through the State of
Pennsylvania and an Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist through the International
Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc.

Loyd worked for the University of Wisconsin System for eight years in the areas of Student Life and the
Counseling and Human Development Center and taught graduate level courses in “The Development
and Perpetuation of Addictive and Compulsive Behaviors”, “Group Work and Development”, “Creating
Healthy Learning Environments” and “Adventure Based  Counseling, Activities and Programs” for
  Aurora University for six years.

He directed a Residence Life Program for Sheldon Jackson College, Sitka Alaska for three years as well as
providing adventure based activities (sea kayaking, mountain hiking and Island touring/camping) for students.
Loyd created his own business in 1984 and has provided management enhancement and  organizational
development for school districts, businesses and major corporations throughout the United States.

Upon joining NyE Communities Coalition, Loyd was selected by the Nevada Substance Abuse Prevention and
Treatment Agency to become the State of Nevada, CSAP (Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, US
Department of Health and Human Services) Fellow and has worked in this position for three years.

Currently, Loyd is NCC’s Community Education and Outreach Coordinator and provides education, technical
assistance and programs to NCC staff, community partners, other  community coalitions and community
organizations and businesses.
Hello Everyone, I have been a part of the Pahrump community since 1997 and lived in the state of
Nevada since 1981.  I have two sons PJ who is 20 and Jacob who is 16.  I have been lucky to be a
part of the coalition since it began in 2001.  I have served on the Managing Board as Treasurer for
three years and worked in various staff positions.  I am a Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist and
have been “certified” as a Trainer of Trainers.  I feel lucky to work for NyECC and with some of the
best people around both as other staff members and members of the community in general.  I have
had many opportunities both with the coalition and the school district to increase my knowledge and to
use that knowledge to work within the communities in Nye and Esmeralda counties.  I look forward to
continuing this work and encourage everyone to check us out and become involved in this worthwhile
organization.
Hello, I’m Joanna Darrow & I’m the Youth Coordinator for NyE Communities Coalition YO since August 2007. I have
lived in Pahrump since 2006 with my husband Bert and my daughter Cynthia. As a parent and a member of NyE
Communities Coalition I am invested in the youth in our communities.

I have been working with youth since 2001 and have several years experience planning, implementing and facilitating
activities for youth. I am very fortunate that my job allows me to be creative, have fun and work with youth on issues
that need to be addressed in today’s society. Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is great that they can
stand up and speak out about what they believe in. I love my job & since I am working with teens the majority of the
time I am challenged every day.
A San Bernardino, CA native, I re-located to Pahrump three years ago with my husband Dave. I have been a happy
NyE Communities Coalition Employee for two years. My area is working on children’s health projects such as fitness,
nutrition, and dental health.

I retired from Southern California Gas Company after 27 years in various customer service positions. My favorite was
customer service representative instructor. It was fun being a “pretend customer” calling in with some hairy situations.
After two years of  travels in our 5th wheel, we settled in Yucaipa, CA and I became director of the Yucaipa Chamber of
Commerce for four years.

We have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Our kids are getting old!
Love my job and co-workers. Life is good.
Hellooooooooooooo!  I am Tammy Moore; I am the Financial Coordinator for NCC.  When I first started with NCC I was
a volunteer with no idea of what a coalition is.  After volunteering for 3 months I was offered the position of part time
coalition assistant.  Within 3 more months my position became full time and has evolved over the last five years into a
job that I truly love.  I have been a resident of Pahrump on and off for 20 years.  On and off meaning, I have moved
away 4 times and every time something brings me back.  Pahrump has changed so much, for the better and I believe a
large part of that is the work that NCC is doing in our communities.  When I was younger I can honestly say that I was a
contributor to so many problems that our communities face today.  But with 14 years of recovery under my belt I am
proud to be a part of the effort to make this community a happier, healthier place to live.
Hello beautiful people of southern Nye and Esmeralda counties! My name is Dracena Smith, and I am
a volunteer here at NyECC.  I have lived in Nevada since October, 2003, and I have been a resident
of Pahrump since May 2005. I am a mother of six gorgeous girls, Deasiya, 16, Shamarria, 14,
Trayniesha, 13, Annzayah,12, Queen Victoria, 10, and Anjallie, 9, and one lone star son, Rayj, 7. I am
also a full time college student pursuing my BA in social work. Before joining the Coalition, I
volunteered through various organizations throughout the community which include the Salvation
Army, the Boys and Girls Club of Pahrump, No To Abuse, and Pahrump family Resource Center. Here
at NyEcc I am receiving the best world class training, as well as meeting and participating in my
community, which makes the reward of my services great. I have acquired so many new skills,
reinforced some old values, grown closer to my community and its affairs, and am learning to
implement and teach this to my children to follow my lead. I work with some of the best people on
Earth, and to put the icing on the cake, their cooking skills lets me know that I am appreciated.
Hey! I’m, Paula Kay and I’m going to tell you guys & gals a little about me, I’m a very nice person to work with, I get
along with everyone, I love being with my husband and little girls and family & friends. We like to go camping, ride
horses, swimming and do a lot of other activities, I volunteer for NyE Communities Coalition, I have volunteered for
about 2 months now and Stacy, Joanna, Tammy, Laura, Loyd, CeCe are great people to work with, they have helped
me learn a lot working with them. Well I graduated from Pahrump Valley High School in 2002 and then I moved to
California to go to college for medical assistant and to become a Phlebotomist, I got my certificates and then my
husband, two little girls and I moved to Pahrump because I have family out here and so that my husband can go to
work in Las Vegas. So now I’m studying so I can take the Nevada state board to get my Phlebotomy license. We like
living in Pahrump it’s a very nice place to live, most of all I like living here because my mom, dad, brother, sisters, live
here. Thanks for reading my little bio about me, I hope you liked it.
